What is a BTU?

1 BTU is the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one pound of liquid water by one degree from 60° to 61° Fahrenheit at a constant pressure of one atmosphere. As a general rule we advise you to buy an Air Conditioner with a minimum 7,000BTUs as this is the minimum required to cool a small room (18sq/m) on a hot day. Medium rooms (24sq/m) need around 10,000BTUs and larger rooms and office spaces (36sq/m) require around 15,000BTUs.

Question from Mike: Asked on 02/05/2013
Do you need to empty the condensate water from a tank in the unit.

Can the unit be run continuously or what is the duration,

Answer from Gavin: Answered on 04/05/2013
All these units (portable air-conditioners) vent via a 1.5m hose from the back. It needs to go to an outside source or anywhere else you would be happy with hot air and moisture being extracted to.

Thanks

Question from pete: Asked on 15/04/2013 How cold will this make my room ?

Answer from vicky: Answered on 15/04/2013
It depends on the heat load in the room and the size of the portable air conditioner. The air conditioner will provide a 15 – 20 degree temperature drop. So if your room is 80 degrees Fahrenheit, then the air coming out of the air conditioner will be 60 – 65 degrees Fahrenheit. As the room cools, the temperature of the air coming from the air conditioner will also drop.

Question from Michelle: Asked on 15/04/2013 Do I have to add water?

Answer from vicky: Answered on 15/04/2013
No, The only Item we sell that requires water adding is an evaporative cooler

Question from Brian: Asked on 15/04/2013 What tools will I need to install this portable air conditioner?

Answer from vicky: Answered on 15/04/2013

Question from Becca: Asked on 15/04/2013 Can i use this units without venting the hose?
My cellar does not have windows
thanks

Answer from vicky: Answered on 15/04/2013
All our air conditioners need to be vented through a window or a wall.

Question from Mike: Asked on 15/04/2013 Does this units include a window kit? and can i extend the hose?
thanks

Answer from vicky: Answered on 15/04/2013
Yes the window kit is included, we advise not to extend the hose as the unit overheats and it also voids the manufacturers warranty.
