Useful information
All portable air conditioners must be vented out so the heat is removed from the room that is being cooled. The ideal solution is to vent them through a wall or window. For your convenience, this air conditioner is supplied with a hose and a window venting kit so you can start using it straight away! The provided kit is designed to be installed with sliding or sash windows but is not ideal for other window types. However, the provided fishtail adapter can be used with most windows or doors. During cooling, the fishtail reducer ensures that the opening is as small as possible. For even better cooling, we provide an optional universal window seal at checkout.

Question from DS: Asked on 30/05/2026 What’s the minimum width of the window opening needed
Hi,The electriQ P18CW portable air conditioner doesn’t have a strict fixed minimum window width, but in practice it will fit an opening of about 60–70 cm at the absolute minimum, with around 80 cm or more being ideal for proper installation and sealing. Thanks!
Question from Richard: Asked on 29/05/2026 What is the difference in noise levels between the 18000 BTU and the 12000 BTU unit. Particularly does the 18000 BTU have a sleep setting so it as suitable for use in bedrooms overnight?
Hi, The 18,000 BTU unit is slightly louder than the 12,000 BTU model due to its larger compressor, but the difference is small and the noise levels are broadly similar in practice. The P18CW operates at around 55–59 dB(A) and does include a Sleep Mode, which reduces fan speed, dims the display and adjusts temperature overnight, making it suitable for bedroom use, although like all portable air conditioners it will still produce a steady background noise when running.
Thank you.
Question from Richard: Asked on 29/05/2026 Does this unit run off a standard UK household socket?
Hi, Yes — this unit plugs straight into a standard UK household 3-pin socket (230–240V, 13A). No special wiring or installation is required, and it can be used immediately once set up.
Thank you.
Question from Liam: Asked on 28/05/2026 What’s the maximum width of the window kit? I can’t see this mentioned anywhere and want to confirm it will fit my 1.5m window. Thanks
Hi Liam,The window kit for the electriQ P18CW is adjustable rather than a fixed size, and while the manufacturer doesn’t state an exact maximum width, it is generally suitable for openings up to around 1.5 metres, so your window should fit, although you may need extra sealing to fully close any small gaps. Thanks!
Question from Ozzy: Asked on 27/05/2026 There is no window, how else we can install it? Do you also install if you do how much you charge?
Hi,If you don’t have a suitable window, the air conditioner can still be used, but it needs to be vented outside through another option such as a door with a sealing kit, a small wall vent, or a suitable opening like a sliding or casement gap. Without venting the hot air outside, the unit will not cool the room effectively.Unfortunately, we do not offer installation services for the electriQ 18,000 BTU Smart Portable Air Conditioner. Thanks!
Question from Sarah: Asked on 26/05/2026 Hi does this need continuous water drainage ?
Hi, This model does not require continuous water drainage for normal cooling use, as it has a self-evaporative system that expels most moisture automatically through the exhaust hose. Continuous drainage is only needed if using dehumidifier (Dry) mode or in very humid conditions where excess water may build up, in which case the supplied hose can be connected for permanent drainage.
Thank you.
Question from Robert: Asked on 26/05/2026 Hi,
Will the window kit fit all types of window openings.
Hi Robert,The window kit for the electriQ 18000 BTU Smart Portable Air Conditioner (P18CW) is adjustable and will fit some window types, such as sliding sash or sliding horizontal windows, but it does not fit all windows, especially casement or tilt-and-turn styles commonly found in UK homes, so in those cases you may need an additional adapter or seal kit. Thanks!
Question from Neill: Asked on 24/05/2026 Is it a single exhaust and what is the diameter
