Hi Ian, this HEPA filter is not washable, so it should not be rinsed or cleaned with water, but you can gently tap or lightly vacuum the surface to remove loose dust. On average, it will last around three months before needing replacement, depending on how often the appliance is used and the air quality in your home. Thank you.
