Question from sd: Asked on 01/07/2026 does the plug attach inside and is it 13amp

Answer from JoseBacud: Answered on 02/07/2026

Hi,Yes, the plug connects inside the indoor unit and it uses a standard UK 13-amp plug, so it can be powered from a normal household socket without any special wiring. Thanks!

Question from MaggieD: Asked on 29/06/2026 Will the hose go through any window opening?

Answer from JimsonGuzman: Answered on 29/06/2026

Hi, Yes — the connecting line is designed to pass through a window opening using the supplied window mounting kit shown in the installation manual. The kit allows the window to be closed as far as possible around the connection, requiring only a small gap for the line to pass through while maintaining a seal.

Thank you.

Question from Pia: Asked on 25/06/2026 Can the outdoor unit be put on a sloping roof - loft window situation?

Answer from JoseBacud: Answered on 26/06/2026

Hi Pia,The outdoor unit should not be placed directly on a sloping roof; it must be securely mounted using a proper bracket or frame, and in a loft window setup it is only suitable if the unit is safely supported on a fixed, level mounting system rather than resting on the roof surface. Thanks!

Question from Pia: Asked on 25/06/2026 Does the bracket for the outdoor component need to be screwed or nailed into the window casing?

Answer from JoseBacud: Answered on 26/06/2026

Hi Pia,The bracket for the PortaCool 5000 BTU Smart Portable Split Air Conditioner - Quiet & Efficient (PortaCool5k) outdoor unit should be screwed, not nailed, into the window casing or preferably into a solid structural part of the frame for secure support. Thanks!

Question from 3484: Asked on 25/06/2026 What size room would this work in max size

Answer from JoseBacud: Answered on 26/06/2026

Hi,The PortaCool 5000 BTU Smart Portable Split Air Conditioner is really only suitable for small rooms, working best in spaces up to about 10–14 m² and reaching a practical maximum of around 18 m² (roughly 190 sq ft) in ideal conditions, meaning it’s fine for a small bedroom or compact office but will struggle to cool anything larger effectively. Thanks!

Question from Andy Mc: Asked on 25/06/2026 What are the dimensions of both outdoor and indoor units.

Answer from JoseBacud: Answered on 26/06/2026

Hi Andy,The PortaCool 5000 BTU Smart Portable Split Air Conditioner (PortaCool5k) has an indoor unit measuring 455 mm high, 182 mm wide, and 328 mm deep, while the outdoor unit measures 460 mm high, 222 mm wide, and 363 mm deep. Thanks!

Question from Karen Rees: Asked on 25/06/2026 What is the size as it doesn’t state this anywhere

Answer from JoseBacud: Answered on 26/06/2026

Hi Karen,The PortaCool5K measures approximately 440 mm wide, 335 mm deep, and 715 mm high (about 44 × 33.5 × 71.5 cm).Thanks!

Question from fridgy: Asked on 25/06/2026 Where does the evaporator drain to?

Answer from JimsonGuzman: Answered on 25/06/2026

Hi, The manual does not specify a continuous evaporator drain. The unit is designed as a sealed split system where condensate is managed internally as part of normal operation, with drainage only referenced for non-standard or maintenance situations.

Thank you.

Question from SD93: Asked on 19/06/2026 how does the outside unit fix to the window or can this just hang?

Answer from JimsonGuzman: Answered on 19/06/2026

Hi, Yes, the installation guide shows that the outdoor unit is supported using a dedicated mounting bracket system supplied with the unit. The bracket is assembled and secured within the window opening, and the outdoor compressor then sits on and is fixed to this bracket. It is not designed to hang freely or rest unsupported on a sill, as the bracket carries the full weight of the external unit.

Thank you.

Question from Window style usage: Asked on 18/06/2026 Can this be used in a house with casement windows?

Answer from JimsonGuzman: Answered on 18/06/2026

Hi, Yes — the PortaCool Split 5000 BTU can be used with casement windows. As a split portable air conditioner, it does not require a bulky exhaust hose or standard sliding window kit, only a small opening for the connecting line between the indoor and outdoor units. This gap can usually be sealed with foam strips or a window seal kit, and as long as the window can close securely around the connection and the outdoor unit can be safely positioned outside, it is suitable for most casement-style windows.

Thank you.

Question from Nic: Asked on 16/06/2026 Hi. How long is the cord / cable between the indoor and outdoor unit ? Can be disconnected to allow installation ?

Answer from JimsonGuzman: Answered on 16/06/2026

Hi, The PortaCool Split 5000 BTU uses a factory-sealed, pre-charged refrigerant line of approximately 1 metre connecting the indoor and outdoor units. This is not a detachable or user-serviceable cable and cannot be disconnected, extended, or reconnected during installation. It is supplied as a plug-and-play split system, where the indoor unit is placed inside and the outdoor unit is mounted externally using the supplied bracket, with the line passing through a window or suitable opening. The connection is part of a sealed refrigeration circuit, so any disconnection would require a qualified refrigeration engineer and would result in loss of refrigerant, making the unit inoperable without re-gassing.

Thank you.

Question from Elaine Moulding: Asked on 15/06/2026 Please can you tell me : What does the outdoor component weigh and can the dehumidification be switched off? Many thanks.

Answer from JimsonGuzman: Answered on 15/06/2026

Hi, The outdoor unit weighs 13 kg. Dehumidification can be switched off, as the unit offers separate modes (Cooling, Fan-only and Dehumidify), allowing you to use Cooling or Fan-only if you don’t want the dehumidify function active; however, as with all air conditioners, some incidental moisture removal may still occur during cooling.

Thank you.
