As well as cooling the air like any other evaporative cooler, it has an internal freezer section for providing even cooler air. A concealed Ultra Violet (UV) light helps to keep the air and water hygienic and clean by killing microbes and viruses.

All features are controlled either on the LCD-lit front control panel or the remote control. The LCD display panel also shows date, time and current temperature.

Question from WAC-414 Mobile Air Cooler WAC-414: Asked on 01/07/2009 Can you confirm please as to whether or not this particular model needs a hose.

Regards

Answer from David J: Answered on 02/07/2009
No, this does not need a hose

Question from Graham Shaw: Asked on 23/04/2009 If I use this product in my garage - say 15 square metres - and I use the freezer pack. How cool can I get the environment? I'd like to bring the temperature down to a steady 13C for home brewing purposes.

Answer from mark h: Answered on 27/04/2009
Unfortunately this cooler wouldn't be able to maintain a constant temperature and its unlikely that on a hot day it would cool the air enough. By contrast the air conditioners would maintain a steady temperature, but only go down to 18 degrees centigrade.

Question from Sue: Asked on 22/11/2008 I am interested in this item and read Q&A's above, but could you please tell me when you mention placing it by a door, does it have to be an externally opening one or can it be facing into the room from the inner doorway into our hallway, as there is no space in the bedroom by the window unfortunately? Thanks.

Answer from sajidH: Answered on 24/11/2008
The window or externally opening door is recommended.

Question from Steve: Asked on 30/07/2008 I live in a chalet bungalow with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. The upstairs rooms have a flat roof and they all get uncomfortably hot in the summer, even at night. Would this unit be suitable for cooling these rooms please?

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 31/07/2008
Yes its suitable. We recommend to pace this near window for maximum performance.

Question from jimmy: Asked on 27/07/2008 i have a fan in my room, but i am still very hot of a night, will this be more effective then a fan, if i leave my window open aswell?

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 28/07/2008
Yes off course its more effective than fan.

Question from John Clinch: Asked on 25/07/2008 I am looking for a portable aircon or cooler to use in my touring caravan. I will have mains electric but this may be limited to 3/6 or 10 amps when used abroad. Size and weight of unit is also an issue. Any comments?

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 28/07/2008
A cooler like the WAC-414 will be better suited to the smaller space, will weigh a lot less than an air conditioner, and should run fine on that ampage.

Question from chris: Asked on 24/07/2008 I have an office which I need to keep cool, its about 15 x 15 but we dont have anywhere to put a hose, is there a unit I can buy that doesn't require a hose I need something free standing and self contained, can you help.

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 28/07/2008
Sure, all the air coolers don’t require the use of a hose and are self contained and free standing. Is it 15 x 15 metres? If so, you would require around 4 coolers. You will also need to be able to open a couple of windows or a window and door to create a through flow of air.

Question from Mike: Asked on 16/07/2008 Hi

How quiet or noisy is the product as I am looknig for something for the bedroom. Does the machine require an opening behind it and away from it in order to maximise the cooling?

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 17/07/2008
This air cooler is one of the quietest units we sell. Ideally it does require an opening behind and away to maximize the cooling.

Question from Gillian: Asked on 06/07/2008 I have a flower studio 15 foot by 5 feet i was looking into buying an airconditioner but wondered if this product would be better as does not dry the air and would be more economical to use what do you think or recommend alternative

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 07/07/2008
Hi Gillian Any of the Air Coolers would be suitable as they humidify the air, and would easily cool that size of room.

Question from Jeff: Asked on 13/06/2008 My living room is approx 4 metres x 8 Metres would the wac 414 be ok to cool this down?

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 13/06/2008
Yes, no problem

Question from Sarah: Asked on 11/05/2008 Would this product be suitable for use in my 11 month old daughters bedroom? Her bedroom is on the third floor and the Velux window which offers limited ventilation.

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 12/05/2008
Air coolers will perform better if there is ventilation, but if the room isn't too big, it will still cool it down. Coolers are more suitable than aircon for younger children as they don’t dry out the air, and this one also purifies it.

Question from Jean: Asked on 11/05/2008 my husband wants something to cool his wooden shed without sending shavings everywhere. We have a cooler indoors which would be too big. This one sounds possible, but would it be suitable.

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 12/05/2008
The WAC-414 sounds like it would be fine. There are different fan setting to control the air, so it shouldn’t blow shavings about.

Question from Rich Sherry: Asked on 07/05/2008 We are looking at an air cooler for our loft conversion as we have tried an air conditioner and it was too noisy. In your opnion which would be more effective to cool the room? We have a velux window that the unit could be placed infront of and door but on some warm nights there is no breeze.

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 21/05/2008
I suggest 29-159 as it is one of the quietest air conditioning units we sell, and gives you the option of having the fan only (even quieter) or heating the room up (great for winter). It also can act as a dehumidifier, which is also a great cooling option.

Question from Loz: Asked on 23/03/2008 What are the dimensions please?

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 11/07/2008
Dimensions (HxWxD) - 770x360x270mm

Question from ila: Asked on 09/01/2008 I wanted to purchase something that will cool my babies nursery more than the fan I bought last year - does this work better than an ordinary fan (I bought a good one - Bionaire - £70). Do you have to have a window open (as it is for a nursery I want to block out noise - I can leave the door open)

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 11/07/2008
This product is an evaporative air cooler. It uses the principle of water evaporation to convert warm air into a cool refreshing breeze. If the unit is positioned with a door open behind it or a window behinds it, it will work to circulate the air and create a refreshing breeze.

Question from 214: Asked on 06/12/2007 How effective will this unit be if not placed by a door or window?

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 06/12/2007
It will need to be near a window or door to operate effectively.

Question from Duncan: Asked on 04/12/2007 Would this product be suitable in an attic to keep the area cool during the summer

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 18/12/2007
For this type of use I would recommend an air conditioner.

Question from Cyril Walklet: Asked on 22/07/2007 Is this model remote control also is there a spare ice pack available

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 24/07/2007
Unfortunately, we don't currently supply spare ice packs.

Question from WAC 414: Asked on 22/07/2007 Can ice be added to the water tank?

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 24/07/2007
Ice CAN be added to the water tank for extra cooling

Question from Neil: Asked on 11/06/2007 What temperature drop can we expect from using this unit?

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 14/06/2007
Evaporative air coolers don't work like air conditioners. These types of unit create a fresh breeze by blowing air through a saturated hydropad then dispersing the cooled, hydrated air.

Question from Abi: Asked on 11/06/2007 How often does the tank need refilling with water?

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 14/06/2007
Depends on the humidity in the room. You should empty and refresh the water every couple of days.

Question from Cheryl Rees: Asked on 09/06/2007 Could you tell me if this unit would be suitable for a conservatory with the dimensions 15 feet x 9?

Answer from Easycom: Answered on 14/06/2007
This product is an evaporative air cooler, not an air conditioner. This cooler uses the principle of water evaporation to convert warm air into a cool refreshing breeze.
