12-May-2008 Aash: How effective is the heating on this product ? (12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner)

Easycom: Providing your room is no larger than the size specified it will maintain a temperature of 15 - 31 C

30-May-2008 tracey courtney: Should I think about buying this product, I live in a very large spacious one bedroom loft apartment I have three laptop's running constantly, and the apartment is exposed to a lot of sun.

Easycom: If your room has an adequate means of running the vent, then yes - otherwise I recommend an air cooler instead.

31-May-2008 Alison: Hi Do I need to attach the hose in order for the air conidtioning to work? The product information says all doors and windows should be closed, but in order to use the hose, a window would need to be open.

Easycom: Yes the hose needs to be attached, and the end of the hose needs to be positioned outside the room in which you are cooling. Ideally it should be outside (via a hole in the wall), but it is OK to run the hose out a small gap in the window etc. - Air conditioning needs good circulation (via the hose) to work properly. If good circulation is not available, I suggest you buy an Air Cooler instead, as these are built to work without external circulation.

8-Jul-2008 John: I am considering purchasing this Air Conditioning Unit for a small timber building (12ftx10ft) housing CCTV/Computer Equipment. It is in full sun and gets very hot. Would this unit be suitable for summer/winter use? If so, and the hose is put through a hole in the wall (fixing kit available?), would a wall vent be required in order to provide ventillation?

Easycom: This unit would be more than suitable as itâs a fairly small area. It comes with a hose kit so this can be routed outside like you say. A wall vent shouldnât be necessary. A major benefit of this unit is that it would act as a dehumidifier which would be ideal in this type of building with electronics in it.

18-Jul-2008 Alan: Does the PKY12 definitely have a Heater in it, as it is not mentioned in the Full Specification.

Easycom: It doesnât have a dedicated heater function, however it will maintain a temperature of 15 - 31C in an appropriately sized room.

27-Jul-2008 Keith: I need a quite air conditioning unit for use at night. 50db sounds a lot but is it and do you have anything that might be quieter still?

Easycom: 50 decibels This is as quiet as you will get with a aircon unit. If this is too loud you could try an air cooler.
